Zydeco Festival & Poker Run Set for Labor Day Weekend in Natchitoches

Older-Couple-DancingNATCHITOCHES, LOUISIANA – The Magnolia State Peace Officer’s Association will host the its annual Cane River Zydeco Festival and Poker Run on Labor Day Weekend in historic Natchitoches.

Festivities begin on Friday, August 30 and last throughout the day on Saturday, August 31. All events will take place around the downtown stage on the banks of the scenic Cane River Lake in the Landmark Historic District.  Events on Friday are FREE and open to the public.

The lineup for Friday night, August 30:

6:00 p.m.  Kickoff with DJ Doc Couty

6:00 p.m. Registration for the Saturday Poker Run

7:00 p.m. Motorcycle Games

9:00 p.m. Zydeco Dance Contest, 1st and 2nd place winners receive a cash prize.

Admission for the festival on Saturday is $7 for persons 12 and older.

The public is invited to bring their lawn chairs but no ice chests are allowed.  Louisiana cuisine will be available from food vendors on the riverbank.

There is ample free parking in the downtown area and Front Street will remain open.  Parking will not be allowed on the riverbank. Gates to the festival area will be located at staircases leading down to the riverbank area.

Pre-registration for the Poker Run can be done now by contacting any officer in the Magnolia State Peace Officers Association or Billy Meziere (318) 471-9920.

All proceeds will benefit the Cane River Chapter of the Magnolia State Peace Officers Association. This non-profit community service organization is dedicated to the betterment of law enforcement and the administration of Justice in the State of Louisiana.
