Workshop for youth with Type 1 diabetes and their parents

cabrini3Will and Laura are a “real” family living with type 1 diabetes and have experienced many of the same thoughts, experiences and feelings as their audiences.  They are also a trained youth/parent team who will lead a free workshop for youth with type 1 diabetes and their families at 10 a.m., January 4 in CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Women’s and Children’s Hospital Conference Room.,

“Our Diabetes Journey – For Parents and Kids” is a session for youth who have type 1 diabetes and are between 8 and 16 years old and their parents.  This program focuses on how living with diabetes can impact the entire family.  All families are invited to join Will and Laura to hear their story and discuss: the choices young people have in managing their diabetes; understanding each other’s point of view; and situations specific to youth (such as feeling different around other kids) and parents (e.g. organizing the family’s routine around diabetes management).

The workshop is part of the A1C Champions® diabetes education program sponsored by Sanofi U.S.
