Work Begins on Alexandria Holocaust Memorial

ObeliskThe spire that will be the centerpiece of the Alexandria Holocaust Memorial arrives this morning.

The granite obelisk is 18 feet high.  The memorial is developing at the corner of 4th and Elliott in the downtown area.  The 100-thousand-dollar structure is being paid for entirely by private donations, here and most of the money has been raised.  The memorial will provide a quiet spot for reflection and remembrance.

Those heading up the organization to erect the memorial are Rabbi Arnold Task, Ed Crump and Mike Tudor.  The dedication ceremony is now planned for Sunday, November 10th.  There are hundreds of donors, large and small, to the memorial.
