Witness to First Atomic Bomb Test Tells His Story

BombWitnessWhere were you on July 16th, 1945?  Many of you may not have even been alive yet.

But George Allen was a witness to history.  He was among those who witnessed the first atomic bomb, called the Trinity Test.

Today he lives in Alexandria.  He was a young member of the U.S. Air Force, a navigator, just as World War Two was about to come to an end.  Here’s what happened:

Now Allen is participating in a memoir compiled by the Atomic Heritage Foundation in Washington.  He’s being asked to record his memories for future generations with hopes this will never again happen.
