VOA Receives Large Check from Wal-Mart

It’s a little like Christmas in July for Volunteers of America. Wal-Mart presented a 50-thousand dollar check to VOA for a program called “BEST”.  That stands for “Building Empowerment through Skills and Training.”  The program gives more than a hundred women skills to make it on their own.

The VOA also showed off its spruced up facility on Coliseum Boulevard today.   VOA began in 1986 in Central Louisiana and provides social services to more than 25 hundred each year, including children.
