Rapides deputies arrest two men in connection with vehicle burglaries.
Rapides detectives were assisting Grant detectives in locating the first suspect; they caught up with 19-year-old Nathanial Thomas while attempting to flee from his residence on Esler Field Road in Pineville. Thomas was taken into custody and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Detectives were also able to determine he was a suspect of several vehicle burglaries that occurred at the Jena Choctaw Casino.
Detectives learned that another suspect, identified as 26-year-old Michael Hogatt of the Otis Community, was also involved in several thefts and vehicle burglaries that occurred on February 4th in the Pineville area. Detectives believed that Hogatt was also in possession of a stolen vehicle and was somewhere still in the area. He was later located on foot in Alexandria and was taken into custody. Hogatt is accused of burglaries and motor vehicle theft, and he’s also wanted in Grant Parish on outstanding warrants; he was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center
The stolen vehicle was recovered by RPSO in an empty parking lot in Pineville. Detectives say most of the property that was taken has been recovered.
Thomas was released on a $5,250 bond and turned over to Grant Parish authorities. Hogatt is being held on a $27,500 bond.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
