18-year-old Roy DeWayne Hayes, Junior of Pineville was arrested yesterday after deputies responded to a vehicle break-in on Woodwind Drive in Pineville. Deputies say they connected the dots and determined Hayes was responsible for the armed robbery last month. He’s charged with that crime, attempted armed robbery, kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A 16-year-old was arrested for the vehicle break-in, cited, and released to his parents.

“Our Detectives have been working day and night on these burglaries and with the help of our Patrol Deputies and an observant neighbor with video, we were able to solve this burglary and the armed robbery” said Sheriff William Earl Hilton.  “We rely on our citizens as our partners in combating these types of crimes.  If you see something, say something and give our office a call.  We will follow the leads where ever they take us and continue to protect the citizens of Rapides Parish.”

Detectives are still actively investigating the vehicle burglaries from last weekend.  If anyone has any information, please call the Tioga Sub-station Criminal Investigation Division at 318-641-6000.
