Traffic Stop Leads to a Arrest for Stolen Firearm

Press Release – On September 13, at around 9:45 am, APD officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 4800 block of Lee Street. As the vehicle was pulling over, officers could see the driver reaching behind the seat. After stopping, the driver gave officers permission to search the vehicle, and they located a handgun under the back seat. After running a check on the gun, officers found that it was reported stolen.

The driver, identified as Mark James, 26, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
