Tigers Headed to Omaha

LSU TigersThe Tiger baseball team is heading back to Omaha for the College World Series for the first time since 2009. In no small part due to the contributions of freshman speedster Mark Laird.

Laird, a 20 year old Monroe native, had a solid first season patrolling the Tiger outfield, hitting .297 and who could forget the awe-inspiring diving grab he made against Kentucky back in April.

The Tigers are headed back to Omaha and Laird’s looking forward to it.

Fellow freshman Alex Bregman was named Freshman Hitter of the Year by the National Baseball Writers Association on Tuesday.

The Tigers open the CWS on Sunday night against UCLA.
