The Sound Of Music Opens Tonight as Planned

The Sound of Music school performance was cancelled for their opening show this morning. However, the opening show will go on for tonight at 7pm as planned. or at the door for tickets.

The award-winning Pineville High Theatre Department is set to come alive with THE SOUND OF MUSIC as the treasured musical takes the stage on Thursday, January 30 and continues through Sunday, February 2, 2014.

The musical is considered one of the masterpieces of modern musical theatre and is the last collaboration of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Featuring all the iconic songs from the famous movie such as “The Sound Of Music”, “Do-Re-Mi”, “16 Going On 17″, ‘My Favorite Things””Edelweiss” and “Climb Every Mountain”; ‘Something Good” and many more, The Sound of Music remains one of the most beloved musicals of all time.

Based on the true story of the von Trapp family, Maria, a spirited postulant nun, is sent to work as a governess to the seven children of a former naval captain. Her unconventional methods lead the family through Austria’s turmoil of the late 1930’s with love and music and gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain. The Sound Of Music features one of the most inspirational finales ever presented in musical theatre.
