SVU Detectives make arrest in cruelty to juveniles case
On October 14th, Deputies responded to a local hospital in reference to an infant that was being treated for a possible broken bone. Upon arrival, Deputies were informed by medical personnel that there were several other injuries to the infant including testing positive for illegal narcotics. Deputies requested assistance from Detectives with the RPSO Special Victims Unit to respond and the investigation was turned over to them.
SVU Detectives quickly identified the suspects as a family member, Adreana Marie Adams, and her boyfriend, Cesar Orozco. From their investigation, SVU Detectives established sufficient probable cause to obtain arrest warrants on both suspects for 1 Count each of Cruelty to Juveniles. Detectives also learned there were two additional children living home with the two suspects. With the assistance of the Children’s Advocacy Network and the Louisiana Department of Children & Family Services, all three children have been removed from the home and placed into State custody.
The infant victim is recovering at a hospital in New Orleans and is in stable condition. Adams and Orozco were booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center where they remain at the time of this release. Adams is being held on a $55,0000.00 bond with the addition of a contempt of court charge. Orozco is being held on a $50,000.00 bond..
SVU Detectives say their investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are expected.
