Police say 32-year-old will Ray Lashney yesterday accosted a hunter in the woods, took his gun, and ran back to his mother’s home where a possible hostage situation began. But, family members were able to flee the house on Addison Street, except his mom was given permission to try to take the shotgun away from her son.

The gun discharged, and the mom was hit by friendly fire from police. She is listed in stable condition. Charges against Lashney are pending.

This incident was not related to the marshals-involved shooting the night before, which left a little boy dead and his father in critical condition.
