Student Charged with Manslaughter After Classmate Dies After Fight

A Natchitoches Parish student dies following a school fight.  Police say 18-year-old Johnquaries Smith was beaten at Natchitoches Central High School and flown to University Health, where he passed away yesterday.

16-year-old Timmy Robinson of Natchez is charged with manslaughter. He currently is awaiting a bond hearing at a future date and remains at Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.

Natchitoches police could not confirm how many times they’ve been called out to the school since the start of the school year.

Smith’s family says they forgive the accused attacker, but they want justice. Smith’s uncle says he met with school leaders at NCHS about increasing security on the campus.
