Authorities say eleven children and the driver suffered minor to moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital. The children ranged in age from five to 15.

State Police say the school bus driver, 33-year-old Jake Lawson of Boyce drove over a hill and encountered a mud-covered highway. He lost control and the bus flipped on its side.

The parish school superintendent says the bus driver did a great job to make sure no one was badly injured. The superintendent says trucks entering and leaving a nearby landfill likely made the highway muddy.
