“Safe Haven Law” Extension Begins Today

A new law that went into effect today gives new moms more time to give up their babies without consequences.  It’s called the Safe Haven Law, and it extends the allowable time for a baby to be given up at an emergency care facility from 30 to 60 days.  The bill was sponsored by local state representative Chris Hazel.

The law still states that the baby cannot be left unattended and must not show signs of abuse or neglect.
