Rapides Parish School Board Elects First Female African American President

class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-34277″ alt=”JanetDixon” src=”http://klax-tv.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/JanetDixon.jpg” width=”500″ height=”256″ />The Rapides Parish School Board has elected its first-ever female, African American president.  Janet Dixon of Alexandria was elected to a one-year term yesterday, and will call and preside over meetings.

Dixon is a businesswoman and wife of State Representative Herbert Dixon, a former school board member.  Dixon was instrumental in the controversial move last year to change superintendents.

Elected vice president is Julie McConathy of Deville.
