The first steps are expected to be taken soon for building a multi million-dollar waste tire facility at the Rapides Parish Port.  The project is a public-private partnership between the Alexandria Port and a former Florida businessman.  Lloyd Ward wants to use Chinese technology to turn waste tires into fuel.  The port authority did not take action on it this morning, because they lacked a quorum.

Meanwhile, the port added the Reverend Henry Williams of Alexandria as a member.  He succeeds Johnnie Varnadoe.

A port spokesman says a special meeting will be called to address the waste tire facility project.
