Pineville City Council Approves CLECO Merger

The Pineville City Council stamps its seal of approval on CLECO’s proposed merger.

The historic company, always located in Pineville, is proposing to combine the giant utility with MacQuarie Infrastructure, British Columbia Investment and John Hancock Financial.  The $5 billion deal would take the company from public to private status.

The council met in special session yesterday afternoon to say they approve the sale.  The most important decision on the sale is yet to come from the state public service commission.
