The silent auction is being coordinated by Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and friends in honor of Tonia Istre Henderson, Northwestern State’s new first lady, who is a Tri Sigma alumna.
“We have collected a number of exciting experience packages with many that include accessories for the package,” said Reatha Cox, auction chair. “Our Cajun Fishing Adventure is a full day of guided fishing for two for red fish with lodging, tackle and fish cleaning, as well as two Guy Harvey t-shirts, sun visors and a coffee table book. The Day on False River includes accommodations, a gift certificate, sandbar volleyball game, a monogrammed towel and a nice gift package in a hand-made cypress crate. We also have a weekend in New Orleans and a dinner for 10 at the Samuel Guy House. There are many other packages that would appeal to people’s different interests.”
The President’s Command Performance, NSU’s second annual spring gala, will take place Friday, March 27 and will include the silent auction, entertainment, cocktails and dinner beginning at 6 p.m. in the Alumni Plaza and a retrospective art exhibit of work by Dr. Grady Harper in the adjacent Orville Hanchey Gallery. The main performances, featuring musical ensembles, vocalists and dance performances, will take place in A.A. Fredericks Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. and will include the induction of Harper, Dr. Jack Wann and Jim Bob Key into the School of Creative and Performing Arts Hall of Fame.
“One of our most exciting items is a gift certificate for a week’s stay for two at Infinity Beach Resort in Honduras. Some of the other items up for bid are a birthday party for 20, golf getaways, sessions with a fitness trainer, items for the home, furniture, antiques, fine art, gift certificates, a spa day, a kid’s summer camp package and more,” Cox said. “There will be something for everyone.”
Tickets to the President’s Command Performance are $65 per person and $125 per couple in advance or can be purchased at the event for $75 per person and $150 per couple.
