Notary Prep Class at NSU

Northwestern_State_University_of_LouisianaNATCHITOCHES – A notary exam prep course will be offered through Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education starting Saturday, March 29. The class will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon in Room 122 of Russell Hall. The course runs through May 24. The fee is 9, which does not include the textbook.

This class is geared toward the most difficult portion of the notary public examination, the scenarios.  The class will start with general legal writing tips. It will then cover the substantive information necessary to write a proper legal instrument, worthy not only of a passing grade on the exam, but more importantly, worthy of sound notarial practice.

Participants will use class time and personal time preparing notarial acts from scenario facts, which will be turned in to the instructor for critique. This course is geared to those who have already taken the exam and need further instruction for the scenario portion of the exam. Those taking the class should have knowledge of the materials contained in the “Fundamentals of Louisiana Notarial Law and Practice,” the Louisiana Notary Public examination official study guide, which is available from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Web site at sos.la.gov.
