Natchitoches Man Charged with Carrying a Firearm in a Firearm Free Zone

Press Release – On October 6, around 11:30 am, APD officers were dispatched to a business in the 3400 block of Masonic Drive. The complainant reported a white male walking around the business with a gun in his rear pants pocket. When officers arrived, they saw a male fitting the suspect’s description in the parking lot between cars. The officers approached the male and instructed him to come to them. The male complied, and admitted to the officers that he had a gun in his back pocket. The officers retrieved the weapon and secured it, and placed the suspect under arrest for carrying a concealed firearm.

During the search of the suspect following the arrest, officers also found suspected methamphetamine and pills in his pockets. The male also said that he had several drinks prior to coming to the area. The male was identified as Jonathan McCollough, 36, of Natchitoches, and was charged with Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Possession of CDS II, Possession of CDS IV, Carrying a Firearm in a Firearm Free Zone, and Disturbing the Peace by Public Intoxication.

He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
