57-year-old Thomas Sanders, formerly of Mississippi, is accused of killing Lexis Roberts. Her remains were found four years ago by hunters in Catahoula Parish.
Prosecutors are asking for the death penalty.
He was arrested in Gulfport before being returned to Louisiana. Roberts was from Las Vegas, and Sanders is also a suspect in the death of her mother, whose body was found in Arizona.
