McAllister Defeats Presumed Favorite Riser in Run-Off

VanceMcAllisterA 39-year-old college dropout and self-made millionaire is the congressman elect for the 5th congressional district.  Vance McAllister defeated Neil Riser Saturday by a 60 to 40 vote and Riser was the presumed favorite.

McAllister had the support of the Duck Dynasty stars who made robo calls and TV ads for him last week.

And Governor Bobby Jindal is in town this afternoon in his first public appearance in the 5th congressional district since voters spurned the national Republican Party’s man in the run-off.  Though Jindal never endorsed either man, it was assumed by most political pundits that his preference was with State Senator Neil Riser.  He has been a supporter of his and whom national republicans bankrolled.

We asked the Governor if he’s talked yet to newcomer and now congressman-elect Vance McAllister.
