Mardi Gras Events Draw Large Crowds in CenLA

There were several Mardi Gras parades to attend this weekend in Alexandria.

classiccarsClassic Cars and Cheerleaders kicked everything off on Friday. Hixson Ford puts on this parade every year and unique cars from the forties were seen rolling down Third Street. Cheerleaders from various colleges and local high schools were there to perform to the sounds of high school marching bands.

childrensparadeOn Saturday, children from all over Central Louisiana gathered to catch beads as the Alexandria Children’s Parade moved down Jackson Street. Every year the children’s parade has school marching bands and the regular Krewe floats but with a twist: children are the ones tossing beads and candy with adults.

kreweparadeThe Krewe Parade was the final event of the weekend and people say it was a lot of fun to watch the people rolling down Texas Avenue yesterday. The parade started at two o’clock and while it may have been a bit overcast, the rain held up until after the parade was done.
