MAP Program to Provide Assistance to Drivers In Need
A new program called the Motorist Assistance Patrol, or MAP, will provide assistance to drivers in need. The MAP cars, part of a public-private partnership with State Farm will be highly visible to drivers, and can assist with basic road-side maintenance. The idea is to improve traffic flow by decreasing the congestion caused by stopped vehicles.
Last year the MAP cars helped more than 55 thousand customers. The MAP program is operated seven days a week from 5:30 am to 7:30 pm in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Shreveport areas. They change flat tires, provide jump-starts, and carry coolants as well as fuel.
