Mansura Students Visit Alexandria Holocaust Memorial
This morning, students from the Avoyelles Public Charter School in Mansura visit the Alexandria Holocaust Memorial.
These students have been learning about the holocaust in class, but their studies come alive as they visit the memorial. They have been reading memoirs written about students their age who were subjected to Hitler’s final solution during World War 2.
Rabbi Task says the memorial is meant to be a place of teaching and learning. This is the first organized school visit to take advantage of the history immortalized in the plaques. The Rabbi says the memorial is designed to be a living testimonial to what happened and how to keep it from ever happening again.
