LSUA ANNOUNCES SUMMER ACADEMY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

ALEXANDRIA, LA – LSU of Alexandria is inviting rising high school juniors and seniors to campus for an elite, all-inclusive four-week residential program this June.

Participants will not only enjoy a true college experience, but they will also have the opportunity to earn up to six hours of college credit.

Applicants must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, have completed their sophomore or junior year of high school by June 2, have an ACT or PLAN composite score of 23 or SAT CR+M of 1070 and provide a recommendation from their a high school teacher, counselor or principal.

“This is a great opportunity for high school students to meet peers from around the state, learn about the college atmosphere and explore career aspirations and interests in the classroom,” says LSUA Assistant Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management Heather Poole.  “Authentic college experiences, like our Summer Academy are proven to increase student success after high school graduation”.

The Summer Academy takes place from June 2-June 27, 2014.

In addition to classroom activities, participants will enjoy weekend excursions, daily fun activities and experience college life by living on campus.  Some of the activities include: intramural sports, a gladiator challenge, movie nights, a dance and more.

In the classroom, participants can choose from a variety of college courses such as Biology, Chemistry, English, Hindi, Art, Theatre and History.  LSUA faculty members are responsible for teaching each class.
