LA Pecan Festival This Weekend

The Louisiana Pecan Festival started this morning, bright and early with the blessing of the pecan crops.  It’s taking place in downtown Colfax that will host a huge parade Saturday morning at 10.

There are arts, crafts, entertainment, a carnival and, of course, pecans.  The pecan house is selling shelled and unshelled pecans along with pies, cookies and just about anything that can be made with them.

This is the 44th festival in Colfax, and it’s also become a tradition for many families to return for reunions.  Part of the festival is for children, and the vendors as well as the pecan house will be open Sunday afternoon.
