Keep Louisiana Beautiful to Host Annual Conference in Baton Rouge

KeepLABeautifulBATON ROUGE, La. — Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB), the state’s non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to litter prevention and waste reduction, invites the public to attend its Annual Conference, which will be held in downtown Baton Rouge at the Kean Miller Law Firm Conference Center on Thursday, Sept. 19, and Friday, Sept 20, 2013. The theme for KLB’s 2013 conference is “Driving Sustainability … for the Next Ten Years, “and will highlight KLB’s success over the past 10 years and create vision for the next 10 years.

“We are excited to be hosting the KLB Annual Conference in our state’s capital this year,” Leigh Harris, KLB Director, said. “We hope this will allow many to come learn how they can get involved, see and hear about the environmental efforts of others and celebrate 10 years of KLB funding grants and awareness programs.”

Lt. Gov Jay Dardenne, a long-time supporter of KLB, will be the conference’s keynote speaker on Thursday, Sept. 19. The conference will feature discussions on engaging “millenials,” its environmental sustainability programs, successful volunteer projects from across the state, outstanding freshwater and marine initiatives, and various other innovative projects by KLB affiliate communities.

The conference will close with KLB’s Annual Awards Luncheon Friday, Sept. 20, at the Old Governor’s Mansion. At the Luncheon, KLB and its sponsor, Cox Communications, will delegate awards for outstanding work by individuals and groups whose exemplary efforts are helping to keep Louisiana clean and beautiful.
