International Urban Sidewalk Artist to Appear at MAYFEST in Leesville

MAYFEST-CHALK-ARTIST-1Friday and Saturday, May first and second, visitors will eat their fill, enjoy music and singing, and will enjoy many a visual treat as one of Louisiana’s last FREE food, music and art festivals takes place in the Historic District of Leesville, Louisiana. Six years ago for MAYFEST, the Leesville Rotary Club in conjunction with GALLERY ONE EIIIEVEN, started an interactive sidewalk chalk area dubbed “Chalk-A-Block” that has become one of the most popular events of the festival. Children and parents are provided chalk and plenty of space to get down on the ground, draw and be creative in the sunshine.

This year a new component is being added to Chalk-A-Block. Internationally recognized urban muralist and sidewalk artist Anat Ronen will be on hand Friday evening and all day Saturday creating a chalk painting at MAYFEST, with a work illustrating the wonders of Vernon Parish. Originally from Israel and now living in Houston, Ms. Ronen has produced 3D chalk drawings, murals, paintings and workshops all over the world and now she brings her wonderful talents to MAYFEST.

Her work and other information on the artist can be found at This very special event is being sponsored by The Vernon Parish Tourism Commission, GALLERY ONE EIIIEVEN, The Leesville Rotary Club, City Savings Bank and Trust and the Booker-Lewis Boutique Hotel and Restaurant.
