Highway Officals, Local Law Enforcement Close Icy Roads

Highway officials and local law enforcement started plans for winter weather last night.  The elevated portions of Interstate 49 were shut down as of 6pm yesterday.  In previous winter weather events, there were problems when the interstate iced over, so now highways officials take all precautions.

When people woke up this morning, they learned a winter weather advisory for driving conditions was fully in effect, shutting down major bridges and most access roads.

And state troopers continue to stay busy responding to weather emergencies.  They’re still asking drivers to use the 511 number for info on roads, to free them up for responses.
