Heavy Flooding in Lafayette Causes Schools to Close

Due to heavy rains yesterday and today some students in Lafayette Parish got a surprise. Lafayette Parish Schools released students early today due to flooding conditions.

Authorities in the parish reported several wrecks and with the potential for lighting strikes, heavy wind, and tornadoes the school day was cut short.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch in effect until 7pm Thursday night for the parish.
