Gov Edwards’ Agenda Moves Forward, Signs Non-Discrimination Executive Order

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards is celebrating the first steps for passage of two bills on his legislative agenda.

The Equal Pay Act to eliminate the pay gap between men and women is out of the senate, and is headed to the house side of the legislature.

The “Raise the Age Act” applies to juveniles accused of crimes. Now, it’s age 17 and under this bill, it would move to 18. The bill will now be debated by the full senate.

The governor also signs a non-discrimination executive order. This rescinds a “marriage and conscience” executive order signed by former Governor, Bobby Jindal.

This prohibits discrimination in services provided by state agencies.
