Fort Polk’s 162nd Infantry Brigade Has a New Commander

FortPolkFort Polk says farewell to Tiger Land’s 162nd Infantry Brigade Commander.  Colonel Matthew McKenna is giving up command after two years as head of the Tiger Brigade.  McKenna led the training of about seven thousand military men and women as they trained for service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

His successor is Colonel James Brown.

The new commander is a native of Russellville Arkansas and a graduate of Arkansas Tech.  He became a second lieutenant in 1990.

He has served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, in Germany and Fort Hood.  He’s recently been at Fort Knox and last year served as a senior adviser in Afghanistan.
