Former Marshal Asks Judge for Reduced Bond

One of the two former marshals accused of murder is back in court wanting his million-dollar bond reduced.

Yesterday, State District Judge Billy Bennett in Marksville refused to lower the million-dollar bond for Derrick Stafford.  That means he’ll stay in jail here in Rapides Parish where he’s been moved to be segregated from general population for his own safety.

He’s indicted for the shooting murder last month of 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis and injuring his father, Chris Few.

A co-defendant in the case, Norris Greenhouse Junior, posted a million-dollar bond and is at his home with an ankle bracelet.  Norris is being represented by Jonathan Goins.
