15th Annual Downtown at Sundown

The City of Lake Charles announces plans for the 15th annual Downtown at Sundown concert series for four consecutive Fridays from 5:30-9 p.m., beginning May 17. The “street-fair” format will feature a variety of music and entertainment as well as food and beverage, table top galleries, merchandise vendors and activities for kids. Downtown at Sundown will take place among the beautiful, new Streetscape Project, within the 700-800 blocks of Ryan Street (between Division and Pujo Streets). From 3-10 p.m. each Friday, the two blocks will be closed to vehicle traffic and street parking in accordance with a special event ordinance. All cross streets will remain open for traffic.Surrounding parking lots will be open and available for parking cars.

It is through the philanthropic support of The American Press, CITGO, Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel and Entergy that this popular, family-friendly event is sustained. Mayor Randy Roach said, “In addition to heightening awareness and appreciation of the artistic and musical talent in Southwest Louisiana, the event has also contributed greatly to attracting residents, businesses and tourists to Downtown Lake Charles.”

If inclement weather prevails, the concerts will be held inside the Lake Charles Civic Center. Concert goers are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, however, no outside beverages or pets are allowed on site. For event and vendor information, call 337-494-9159 or go to www.CityOfLakeCharles.com
