“We are very appreciative of Dave Britt, President/CEO of United Way of Central Louisiana, who secured this donation center space for us to help meet the immediate clothing needs of the survivors in our Alexandria mega-shelter,” said Secretary Marketa Garner Walters, of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. “We know Louisianans are kind-hearted and generous and want to help us look after our neighbors in need, as we would look after our own families. This donation center is a great way for us to work together to meet those needs.”
The mega-shelter was housing 676 Texas survivors as of noon Thursday.
