Deville Man Arrested for Recent String of Thefts

Michael-W-Chatelain-mugIn recent months, rx the Rapides Parish Sheriffs’ Office has received and investigated numerous theft reports involving four wheelers, sales motorcycles and lawn equipment in the rural areas of Rapides Parish.  On a tip received through Crime Stoppers and through further investigation, pill RPSO Detectives obtained and executed search warrants at the residence of Michael Wayne Chatelain of Deville.  RPSO Detectives recovered some four wheelers and a motorcycle at that location.  During the search, firearms were also located.  Chatelain is a convicted felon not allowed to possess firearms and was arrested for this violation as well.  Chatelain was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center where he remains on a $300,000.00 bond.  Detectives say the investigation is still ongoing.

“We get information from all over the state that we are not the only ones having these types of thefts.  We urge our citizens to be vigilant and keep their property secured as much as possible” said Sheriff William Earl Hilton.  “If you see something suspicious, call us and we will check it out.”
