The State Education Board met in a special session this morning and voted to sue the Governor. The announcement came as the Governor says he is suing the board of education.
The contentious issue is the common core, a curriculum adopted at the behest of governors to make sure students meet certain minimum standards in education.
The State Education Superintendent, supported by business interests, supports the plan. The Governor, supported by teacher unions, opposes it.
The Governor’s lawsuit is filed in Baton Rouge by Alexandria attorney Jimmy Faircloth.
