CLEDA Promotes Locally Grown Produce
A local foods group is meeting to promote locally grown products. This group is made up of representatives from six surrounding parishes, in addition to Rapides. Their goal is to promote locally grown foods for profit and for better health.
CLEDA, the Central Louisiana Economic Development Alliance, is spearheading the effort.
A series of “Eat Local” events have been held since the first of the year. They’re designed to introduce the community to the possibilities of incorporating homegrown foods into daily diets.
CLEDA is providing the business model for the project, so farmers can make money in their own back yards.
