The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises the public that on September 9, 2013, construction will begin on the Carter Crossing Bridges over Dugdemona River and Dugdemona River Relief in Winn Parish. This work will begin 250’ south of the Carter Crossing Bridge over the Dugdemona River and proceed 1340’ north.
The intent of this project is to remove the existing timber bridge over the Dugdemona River and replace it with a 6 span quad beam girder bridge with 24’ clear roadway, and remove the existing pipe crossing over the Dugdemona River Relief and replace it with 2 7’X7’ box culverts. The roadway will be aggregate roadway surfacing. Associated work includes ditch realignment and replacing a cross drain pipe.
The contractor will not be required to maintain thru traffic, but will be required to maintain local access to both sides of the project. The bridge will be closed 9/23/13 and will remain closed for the duration of the project.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, WL Bass Construction Inc. in the amount of $1,097,015.50. The work associate with this project should take approximately 9 months to complete.
