The Better Business Bureau Serving Louisiana and the Ark-La-Tex Scholarship is a $400 award that will be presented to a student each fall and spring semester. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 or higher grade point average and intend to eventually earn a Master’s of Business Administration, according to Andy Fisher, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau Serving Central Louisiana and the Ark-La-Tex.
“The Better Business Bureau is a non-profit, so if we make a profit from an activity, we take those funds as a goodwill measure and create scholarships,” Fisher said.
The Better Business Bureau’s mission is to create a community of trustworthy businesses, set standards for marketplace trust, encourage best practices, celebrate marketplace role models and denounce substandard marketplace behavior.
In addition to Northwestern State, the agency has created scholarships at other post-secondary institutions in the region.
