May 14, 2013 – On 05-10-2013, Alexandria Police arrested Michael Butler Jr., 20 of Alexandria and charged him with 1ct-Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and 1ct-2nd Degree Battery.

On 05-08-2013 at approximately 3:56PM, APD officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1600 Block of McEnery Avenue in reference to reported shots fired.
Upon officer’s arrival, the investigation found that two men were involved in a verbal altercation which became physical. During the altercation, a third individual attempted to break up the fight but was shot. The shooter then fled the scene.

The victim of the shooting was a 35-year-old Alexandria resident. He was transported to a local hospital before officers arrived. APD Detectives and Crime Scene were called out to assist.

Further investigation resulted in Butler being identified as the shooter. APD Detectives secured a warrant for the arrest of Butler who subsequently turned himself into APD on 05-10-2013.

The victim is still hospitalized. There are no other details regarding this investigation available for release at this time.
