Arrest in Alexandria for Impersonating a Police Officer

On January 8th 2015, APD Detectives arrested William Godfrey III and charged him with 1ct-Impersonation of a Police Officer.

On December 24th 2014, APD Officers responded to a local business in the 3600 Block of North Boulevard in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, the investigation found that a male subject came to the business after it closed. After several attempts to get employees to let the subject in failed, he produced a badge and identifying himself as a law enforcement officer and threatened to arrest employees if they didn’t let him in. The subject left when police were called.

Officers were able to identify Godfrey as the suspect through investigative means and learned that he did not hold a Law Enforcement commission. Godfrey was later taken into custody without incident.
