Area Church to Provide Youth Program at Charles Hayward Center

An area church is taking over the youth program at the Charles Hayward Center on Loblolly Lane.

It’s called the Youth Empowerment Program and the grand opening was held over the weekend. There were athletic activities and other games at the grand opening.

The center will be open Monday through Friday after school with a variety of programs directed to children. These include tutoring, life skills, and career development.

The church will provide Tuesday and Friday night basketball, plus other kinds of games. Church members say they have been working to provide the volunteers and staff to offer this program for youngsters.

The church is located around the corner from the Hayward center on England Drive.
