Students in 5th – 12th grades can compete in the Zoo’s first Social Science Fair. Individuals or groups can participate to win prizes like zoo memberships, animal adoptions, zoo passes, pizza parties and more. Visit our website for the fair rules and entry form.

Who? Individuals or Groups* in Grades 5th – 12th *Group is defined as an organized group of 5 – 25 individuals such as a school class, boy scout troop, girl scout troop, 4-H club, etc.

The Project
Focus – Study of social interactions involving animals.
Topic Suggestions:
Animal social groups
i.e. – Wolf Pack, Lion Pride
Cultures involving animals
i.e. – Impact of animals on Mayan culture
Animal behaviors
i.e. – Animal enrichment, training, and conditioning
Conservation
i.e. – Impact of palm oil plantations on orangutans

Awards and Recognition
All entrants will receive a certificate of participation. 1st – 3rd place prizes will be awarded for each Level in both the individual and group categories. Winners’ names and photos will be posted on the Alexandria Zoo website, Facebook page, and in the Zoo.
