Alexandria Man Charged with First Degree Murder

Press Release – On September 3, at around 10 pm, APD responded to a report of shots fired in the 1700 block of Beatrice Street. When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old male had been shot and was moaning, but unresponsive. The subject was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene.

During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify a suspect and obtain an arrest warrant. On September 5, APD located and arrested Braylon Dozier, 19, of Alexandria, who was charged with Armed Robbery with a Firearm and First Degree Murder. Dozier was also linked to two other robberies, one on August 6 on Bacon Street in Alexandria, and one on August 30 in the same area. A subsequent warrant was obtained and Dozier was charged with two additional counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm.

Dozier was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. The investigation into these robberies continues, and additional details will follow.
