Alexandria City Council Moves Forward with Recreation Tax

The Alexandria City Council is taking the first step to pursue a recreation tax that may also help the Alexandria Zoo.

The council members see this as a swap of sorts.  City taxpayers are about to retire the tax, cure which paid for the public safety complex, buy so now they want residents to turn their attention to recreation.

The council approved sending a proposal to the State Bond Commission, to meet a mid-January deadline.  However, the council members must still decide the exact millage rate and whether the Zoo will definitely be included in the call.
