After Qualifying, Many Elected Unopposed

ElectionsWhen the smoke cleared Friday afternoon at courthouses and the secretary of state’s offices in Baton Rouge, some candidates were elected unopposed.

All but two state district judges are returning to the bench as well as the Alexandria City Judge.

Seven school board members have no races, and two area mayors are elected in Lecompte and McNary.

Roosevelt Johnson will again serve on the Alexandria City Council, and all those seeking aldermen seats in McNary are elected.

In Vernon Parish, Libertarian Justin Bonnette was elected to Justice of the Peace Ward 6.

The primary is November 4th and run-offs, which are expected in many races, will be December 6th.
