Work Begins on New Library Branch
The Lower Third Street area is getting a new library: the Martin Luther King Junior Branch.
Today, the ground is broken for the new facility in the 11 hundred block of Broadway, between Peabody Magnet and the fire station. Tudor Construction will begin work in a few weeks and the construction is scheduled for completion next summer.
There will be a construction blog on the Rapides Parish Library website: rpl.org.
The MLK branch is one of five urban facilities in the system, along with four rural branches. Temporary quarters for patrons of the MLK branch are located at the main library in downtown Alexandria.
